Judging from the features of the Mei and the Nakago file pattern, this Wakizashi was forged by Harima Daijo Tadakuni, 1st Generation. He was a disciple of Takayoshi, 1st Generation, and the second grandson of Tadayoshi. He was born in 1598 and passed away in 1691 at the age of 94. Tadakuni, 1st generation held a reputation for having better skills than any other Waki-hizen swordsmiths, such as Masahiro and Yukihiro. This Wakizashi that this is true. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token in 2023. |
