Other Info
The theme of this pair of Menuki is Puppy. The Fifth Tokugawa Shogun, Tsunayoshi established a law for the protection of all life so people treated animals well, especially dogs were considered being very important. It is not certain why this theme was crafted but it is rare to see a dog theme as a sword fitting, often there were more themes of other animals such as cattle, deer, horses, monkeys, and rats. The detailed work of this pair of Menuki shows two lovely puppy brothers. Passed the Hozon Shinsa and attributed to the Waki-goto Tradition in November 2022.
