The theme of this Tsuba is Paulownia and Tomoe Sukashi, It is Mumei but has been attributed to Kanshiro from Higo. Kanshiro was the name of the first three generations Soke Nishigaki Family. This lineage lasted for eight generations until the early Meiji Period. This family is a prestigious lineage that worked for the Hosokawa Clan, such as the Hayashi, Hirata, and Shimizu Families. On the Tsuba box, Sato Kanzan Sensei wrote "It is Mumei, but is Kanshiro, first generation" in 1962. This Tsuba is referred to in the book of Higo-Kinko Taikan" on page 201. This Tsuba is a very rare as a typical Kanshiro Tsuba showing the high quality iron, design and craftsmanship. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu.
