| This wakizashi was by Tango-no-kami Kanemichi (second generation), son of the Kanemichi first-generation (the second son of the first-generation Kyoto Tamba-no-kami Yoshimichi; he moved to Osaka shortly after receiving the Tamba-no-kami title in 1625). He moved from Osaka to Edo during the Genroku era, mid Edo period to forge swords. His work resembled the first generation, inheriting the deep and thick nie. This wakizashi has a typical work featuring repeated patterns of two or three gunome hamon, along with a sugu-yakidashi straight hamon. The inscription “August, an auspicious day in the Year of the Rooster, 1705” is valuable. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in 2025. It comes with a wakizashi koshirae with a black lacquer saya. |
