This Yasutsugu was the 3rd son of the Yasutsugu 1st generation and therefore the younger brother of the 2nd Yasutsugu. After the death of the 2nd generation master, there was an issue as to who would become the successor of the tradition. Hence, the son of the family was chosen to work for the Shogun's family in Edo, exclusively. While this Yasutsugu was chosen to work for the Matsudaira family, in Echizen. This Wakizashi was forged by Yasutsugu 3rd generation of the Echizen branch. |
