Owari province bordered on Mino province and was in contact with the Mino area, and many excellent swordsmith from Mino migrated to Owari at the end of the Muromachi period, including Hida no Kami Ujifusa, Sagami no Kami Masatsune, and Hoki no Kami Nobutaka. This swordsmith, Bunugo no Kami Masayasu was one of them. He was born in Seki, Mino province and later he moved and lived under Nagoya Castle in Owari. In 1664, he received the title of “Bungo Daijo” and later “Bungo no Kami”. This wakizashi is made of shinogi-zukuri with a chu-kissaki, a wide width, thick kasane, and a moderate curvature. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in June 2024. |
