Koretsugu[是次] is the founder of the Fukuoka Ishido school[福岡石堂派]. He was born in 1629 as the son of Toshihide[利英], who was said to be the youngest grandson of the Bizen Fukuoka Ichimonji school[備前福岡一文字派]. In 1655, he went to Edo and became a disciple of Musashi Daijo Koreichi[武蔵大掾是一] of Edo Ishido school, learning the secret of Bizen tradition, and three years later returned to Fukuoka, Chikuzen Province and became a domain swordsmith of the Kuroda domain. He died in 1681 at the age of 53. This wakizashi is a rare suguha hamon wakizashi by Fukuoka Ishido Koretsugu. It is well made. It has a saya-gaki written by Kanzan[寒山] sensei in 1966. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in September 2024. |
