Hidenao[秀直] was a desciple of Taikei Naotane[大慶直胤] and from Yamagata, Dewa Province. He was also a desciple of Suishinshi Masahide[水心子正秀] in Masahide's later years. Like his teacher Naotane, he received the title of Chikuzen-daijo[筑前大掾] and later Mino-no-suke[美濃介]. This wakizashi is the fine jigane with its dense ko-itame grain and the varied ko-gunomemidare hamon pattern showing the features of his teacher and are well made. It has passe the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in September 2024. |
