Tadamitsu[忠光] is one of the famous lineages amoung swordsmiths in the suebizen[末備前]. This lineage were continued over a period of 120 years, from the early Bunmei period (1469-1487) until the Osafune swordsmiths suffered a devastating blow by the flood of the Yoshii River in 1591. This sword has a two-character inscription, Tadamitsu. With a faint utsuri and relatively thick nakago, it is a purely katateuchi style sword made by Tadamitsu near the Bunmei era. It has passed the Hozon Token shinsa in 2006. |
