This wakizashi is an Etchu Shinto with the two-character inscription "Kiyomitsu". Etchu Kiyomitsu was founded by Kichiuemon Kiyomitsu, who moved from Kaga province to Moriyama (Takaoka), Etchu province around the Tensho period. His son Yohei Kiyomitsu moved to Toyama around the Keicho period 1596-1615, and his second son Han'emon Kiyomitsu and third son Mataemon Kiyomitsu stayed in Takaoka and forged swords, each of which lineage continued for three or four generations. This wakizashi has the shape of a Kanbun Shinto style with slight curverture, and nakago/tang of a katasogi end with a kiri file. The kitae/forging is a visible itame-nagare, and the blade hamon has konie, hotsure, kuichigai, nijyuba, and kinsuji, making it with a rich variety. This Kiyomitsu wakizashi is in good condition. It has passed the Hozon Token shinsa in 2023. |
