This wakizashi was made in 1815, the 12th year of Bunsei, therefore, this swordsmith was the Kato Shigehiro first generation. He was the younger brother of Tegarayama Masashige and the adopted son of Kinmichi sixth generation. He made swords in Kyoto and also Kumamoto, and Edo. This sword was a masterpiece made by Shigehiro at the age of 42, and is resemble his older brother Tegarayama Masashige, who was most skilled at making Toran hamon blades. It has passed Hozon Token Shinsa in 2019. |
