This swordsmith, Sukemitsu, was born in Edo in 1820, late Edo Period. He studied swordsmithing from the Yokoyama Tradition. He was given the name of Yokoyama as a family name. In 1849, he was recommended to became an official worker of the Mito Clan by Katsumura Norikatsu, also known as Tokkatsu and an offical worker of the Mito Clan. Sukemitsu passed away in 1873 at the age of 54. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in June 2024. It has comes with a Wakizashi style koshirae with a brown lacquer isokusa-nuri saya. |
