Bagua, or Eight Trigrams, are a set of eight symbols from Chinese philosophy, each a combination of three lines that are either broken (yin) or unbroken (yang). They represent fundamental principles of reality and are used in various contexts like the I Ching (Book of Changes), feng shui, and other traditional practices. Each trigram is associated with a specific element, natural phenomenon, family relationship, and other concepts, such as Qian (Heaven), Kun (Earth), and Zhen (Thunder). It is mumei, but appraised as Bushu [武州] and passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 1995. |
