Naofusa [尚房] whose pen name was Toshiyuki [敏行]. He was the son of Tetsuya Denbei Harukuni [鉄屋伝兵衛治国], the first master of the Okamoto school. He studied under Shouraku Naoshige [正楽尚茂] (Go: Tetsugendou [鉄元堂]), a desciple of his father Harukuni, and was adopted by him. Tetsugendou excelled in ironwork and was famous for his generously carved openwork technique tsuba with carved edges. Naofusa also took over the name Naoshige, but later became estranged from the master and changed his name to Seiryuken Eiju [青龍軒栄寿]. This tsuba is a refined openwork tsuba with carved edges by Tetsugendou Naofusa (gold seal "Toshiyuki"). It has passed Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 1997. |
