Saotome Ietsugu [早乙女家次] was a Saotome family armorer and tsuba craftsman who lived in Shimotsuma, Hitachi Province, around the Kan'ei, early Edo period. His lineage prospered in the same place for generations to come. This tsuba has a heavy feel to it, typical of armorers. It has passed the Hozon shinsa in 2020. |
