This is an kachushi tsuba that was made as a side job by an armorer. It is thin and has a dote-mimi[土手耳], bank-like rim shape, and the openwork of tsuba is generally small in size, and the surface is usually made with hammered ground. Tsuba made before the Momoyama period are called as ko-kachushi[古甲冑師], and those made in the Edo period are called as kachushi[甲冑師]. In the 2021 shinsa, it has passed the Hozon as an kachushi. |
