Other Info
The theme of this Tsuba is Wild Goose and Reed. Wild Geese are migratory birds that fly south for the winter. The form strong ties with their mates and stay with the same partner for the rest of their lives. They fly in a "V" shape symbolizing a strong bond. This Tsuba was crafted by Ichiryusai Masamitsu, who was a master craftsman that represented Aizu craftsmen in the late Edo Period. It is thought he studied under Ishiguru Masatsune. The features of his work resemble the work of the Ishiguro Tradition. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu in 2024.
