The theme of this Tsuba is Japanese Snake Gourd. This Gourd grows in the mountain forests and bushes in vines. It produces ripe fruit in Autumn. The fruit was used in medicine although the taste was not good. This Tsuba depicts Japanese Snake Gourd using the Nikubori Jisukashi technique with gold plate. It is Mumei but was likely crafted by the Kyo-shoami Tradition. |
