The theme of this Tsuba is Four Sedge Hats. It is Mumei but has been attributed to the Kamiyoshi Tradition in Higo. This Tradition was taught by Hayashi Tohachi, the third Soke of Hayashi Tradition. Hayashi Tohachi taught his crafting secrets to Kamiyoshi Juhei, the first generation. The second generation, Fukanobu, and the third generation, Rakuju, of the Kamiyoshi Tradition became very famous and highly-ranked craftsmen. They are a representative of the end of the Higo Tradition. |
