Sasaki Ichiyusai Minamoto no Sadamitsu[佐々木一友斎源貞光] is a member of Sasaki Ichiryusai Sadatoshi's [佐々木一流斎貞俊] family. Sadatoshi was said to be worked for Rekko[烈公] Mito, and later moved to Shiroishi via Shirakawa, and moved to Wakuya at the beginning of the Ansei era in 5th and 6th /1793-1794. This tanto, Sadamitsu, has been misread because he used the ancient kanji ``Kanten Senjimon[漢篆千字文]'' to sign his name, and since he changed his name to Ichiryusai[一流斎] after 3rd year of Bunkyu, there is a misunderstanding that Sadamitsu was the same person with Sadatoshi, but there is a joint sword of them, same person is wrong. His works made from Manen to Keio era/1860-1868 remain. This tanto is a valuable piece referred to the "Sendai Domain Swordsmiths Meifu/list[仙台藩刀匠銘譜]". It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in 2023. |
