The signature of this Tanto is Kanesaki. This lineage flourished and was well know during the Edo Period in Inshu, Inaba Province, Totori Clan. Considering the features of the Mei and Nakago, this Tanto was forged during the Mid Muromachi Period. This Kanesaki was active around the Daiei Era, Mid Muromachi Period (1521-1527). Although it's been more than 500 years ago, it is still in good condition. It comes with a Chisagatana style Koshirae with a black lacquer Saya. The theme of the Koshirae is a lucky theme of the first dream of the year with Mt. Fuji, Hawk, and Eggplant. The crane and an old turtle with seaweed growing on its back symbolizes longevity. A beautiful Koshirae. This Tanto has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token. |
