Other Info
Firefly hunting is a summer night tradition where people chase and capture fireflies that emit tiny lights and dance fantastically around watersides. "Come on, fireflies, the water over there is bitter, the water over here is sweet," goes a children's song, but that is now a thing of the past. This work is a pair of gold menuki with a design of firefly hunting tools, consisting of bamboo grass and nets attached to a bamboo pole, a fan and an insect cage. It it mumei, but has been attributed to the Kaga-kinko school and passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in May 2025 .
