Other Info
The dragon and tiger theme has been used for a long time in Japan. The two existences represent two almost equally powerful forces, both drawn to each other and in contrast to one another. This craftsman, Furukawa Tsuneyoshi, also known as Jochin, was active during the late Edo Period in Edo. He was the son of Furukawa Mototaka, also known as Genchin. Genchin was a disciple of master craftsman, Yokoya Somin, who was famous for being skilled at the Katakiri-bori technique. Because of this line of teaching, Jochin also became highly skilled at the Katakiri-bori technique. It has passed the Hozon shinsa in 1988.
