| This swordsmith, Horii Toshihide, held the highest reputation of the early Showa Period. He forged Gensuito, which are formal swords given by the emperor to those of the rank of Field Marshal (Dai Gensui) or Admiral. He forged Mikasato, which are blades forged from the battery of the battleship Mikasa. He also forged blades for the Naval Cadet dagger. He was born in 1886. This Wakizashi was forged in 1940 when he was 55 years old; a matured age. It has passed the Hozon Token Shinsa in 2020. |
