This swordsmith, Kozuke Daijo Fujiwara Sukesada, had a high reputation among the swordsmiths from Bizen during the Shinto and Shin-shinto Era. He was born in 1623 and received the title of 'Kozuke Daijo' in 1664 and passed away at the age of 89 in 1721. After a massive flood during the late Muromachi Period, the swordsmiths in Bizen were devastated. However, Kozuke Daijo Fujiwara revitalized swordsmithing and the lineage continued until Batamtasu Period. This katana features a good-looking form, sugu-yakidashi and primarily nioi based gunome-choji-midare with kanitsume-ha/crab-claw-like atractive hamon. Blade length: 2 shaku 4 sun 6 bu (74.5cm). A masterpiece by Kozuke Daijo Sukesada. Registered in Okayama Prefecture in 1951 which so called Daimyo-toroku. Sayagaki written by Kunzan-sensei (1976) and Mr. Bizan (2025) on the scabbard. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in 2023. |
