This swordsmith, Ishido Suketoshi, first generation, belonged to the Kishu-Ishido Tradition. He was born in Kishu and later moved to Kyoto. This lineage continued for three generations. The first was active around Kanei Era, early Edo Period. The second was around the Kanbun Era, and the third generation was active during the Genroku Era. The second and third generations forged many Yari. Considering the features of the Mei, this Katana was forged by the first generation. Ordinally, this Katana was very long, but was shortened by 4.8cm. It still remains at 69.6cm long. The shape has long curvature and longer Kissaki, giving a robust impression. It has passed the Hozon Token in 2023. |
