Among the swordsmiths of the late Muromachi period known as sue-bizen[末備前] swordsmiths, there are many swords signed by Sukesada[祐定]. Among them, Yosozaemon-no-jo[与三左衛門尉], Hikobei-no-jo[彦兵衛尉], and Genbei-no-jo[源兵衛尉] are famous and skilled. This sword does not have a zokumyo/specific name, but due to the inscription it was made in the 11th year of Eisho/1514 and the high quality of work, it is considered to be a sword by Hikobei-no-jo Sukesada (first generation), who was said to be a master second only to Yosozaemon. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in 2022. |
