This Katana was forged by Izumi no Kami Rai Kinmichi and Hokkyo Rai Eisen in collaboration. They belonged to the Mishina Tradition in Kyoto. Rai Eisen was the son of Rai Kinmichi, first generation. Rai Kinmichi was the third generation of the lineage. The first geneation of Rai Kimichi had a famous elder brother, Iga no Kami Kimmichi, and Tanba no Kami Yoshimichi. The youngest brother was Echu no Kami Masatoshi. Rai Eisen, the second generation, received the title of Izumi no Kami in 1616. Later, the second generation entered a monastery as a monk and was assigned the third rank of Hokkyo and used the name of Eisen. The third generation of Rai Kimichi also received the title of Izumi no Kami during the Empo Era. This robust katana gives a strong impression and remains in a healthy good condition. It is one of their masterpieces. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Token in 2022. |
