This Katana is Mumei but has been attributed to the Ko-kongohyoe Tradition. This Tradition was active during the late Kamakura to the late Muromachi Period in Chikuzen Province. The Soke used the name of Moritaka. Ko-kongohyoe means the late era work from the late Kamakura to the Namobukocho Period. Kongohyoe means work from the Muromachi Period. Most of works are Kongohyoe so it is rare to see work of Ko-kongohyoe. The shape of this Katana is Osuriage and a wider than average Mihaba, Nambukucho style. The Kitae is Oitame-nagare (visible grain) and the Hamon is Hoso-suguha. These are the features of Ko-kongohyoe Tradition. It has passed the Tokubetsu-hozon Shinsa in 2022. |
