This Futatokoro is Kozuka and Kogai that has the design of an Orchid. The four plants; plum, chrysanthemum, orchid, and bamboo have an image of nobility and dignity. The craftsman, Sekijoken Taizan Motozane/Genpu, has the lineage the extends four generations and each hold a high reputation in craftsmanship. They were active in the Late Edo Period in Mito, Hitachi Province. The first generation made a Sekijoken school and taught many students. Judging from the Mei, this Futatokoro was likely made by the third generation. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu in 2021. |
