| Takahira (Den'emon), whose real name was Tsujimura Den'emon, was a grandson of the first-generation Kanewaka (Tsujimura Shiroemon, later known as Echū no Kami Takahira) and the second son of the second-generation Kanewaka (Tsujimura Matasuke). He was born in Keian 四年 (1651). After succeeding to the name Takahira, he received the honorary title of Dewa no Kami in Enpō 二年 (1674). His known sword-making career extended from Enpō 二年 (1674) to Genroku 九年 (1696). His workmanship closely resembles that of the second-generation Kanewaka, featuring box-shaped midare mixed into the hamon and prominent sunagashi. His hamon is said to be the most flamboyant among the Kanewaka family. This kanmuri-otoshi-zukuri wakizashi displays a magnificent hamon characteristic of Takahira (Den'emon). The blade passed the NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon Token shinsa in 1987. |
