Other Info
Kaizukushi (Various Shells Design) is a decorative motif depicting the beautiful shapes of various shells and marine creatures, including spiral shells, sea urchins, conch shells, clams, turban shells, abalone, and short-neck clams. This motif has long been popular not only in sword fittings but also in kimono textiles and ceramics. The various shells are skillfully arranged to form the tsuba itself, creating a bold and visually striking design. In 1989, this tsuba was attributed to the Shoami school and passed the NBTHK Hozon Tosogu shinsa.
