| This tsuba presents a simple yet elegant design of Amaryū (Scaleless Dragons) and auspicious clouds rendered in delicate gold hira-zōgan on a polished iron ground. The slender, scaleless dragons soar lightly through the heavens, harmonizing with the swirling auspicious clouds to create a quiet yet dynamic sense of movement. The tsuba bears only a kaō, and the identity of the tsuba maker remains unknown. Judging from the refined gold hira-zōgan technique used to depict the Amaryū and auspicious clouds, it is considered to be the work of the Sendai Kusakari School of the late Edo period. |
