Other Info
This tsuba is unsigned but attributed to the Mito school, featuring a Kozane-guruma (Lamellar Armor Wheel) Design. Kozane-guruma is a motif inspired by the small lamellar scales used in traditional Japanese armor, arranged radially to form a wheel-like pattern. It is a design that combines the strength of samurai culture with refined aesthetic balance. The tsuba is made in a tatemaru (round) form using brass, with radiating stepped patterns expressed through sukidashi-bori carving. Though simple in design, the well-balanced composition and subdued patina create a harmonious appearance, reflecting a sophisticated sense of artistic refinement. Passed NBTHK Hozon Tōsōgu shinsa in 2024.
