| Edo Higo [江戸肥後] tsuba featuring a paulownia and phoenix design. Edo Higo refers to works popularized by Kumagai Yoshiyuki [熊谷義之], a craftsman from Sendai employed by the Hosokawa family of the Higo domain during the late Edo period, who studied Higo metalwork in Yotsuya, Edo. Characterized by gold and silver nunome-zogan overlay and large hitsu-ana holes on the right and left. It passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2025. |
