Ikeda Isshu [池田一秀] was a swordsmith employed by the Sakai clan. Three generations of the leneage continued from the Bunka era to the Meiji era. The generation of this tsuba is unknown, but it is a large, mokko-shaped Tosho-tsuba with the inscription "Isshu Hakane Kitai (Steel Forging) [一秀 ハカ子キタイ]" and udenuki-ana holes on the ground. It passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2019. |
