Other Info
Tsunetoshi[常寿] was the first of the Oguma[小熊] lineage. He was a craftsman of the Date clan. He lived in Sendai, Mutsu Province. He studied high-relief engraving and metal inlay techniques under Toryusai Tanaka Kiyotoshi[東龍斎田中清寿] in Edo. His go names were Tokousai[東藁斎], Todoshi[東洞子], and Toyosai[東洋斎]. He passed away in 1835 at the age of 48. His son, Toshioki[Toshioki], was also a craftsman of the Date clan who studied under Tanaka Kiyotoshi. This tsuba is an unusual design in which a Crescent Moona depicts using silver flat inlay across the nakago-ana/hole over a Pine Tree and a Drying Net. It has passed the Hozon shinsa in 2024.
