Traditional metalwork during the Muromachi period that cannot be identified made by the Goto, the Kyoto, or the Mino tradition is collectively called the Ko-kinko tradition. This tsuba designed a wave pattern carved into a crude copper base with an engraving technique. It is said that waves will forever repeat and bring good fortune. This quaint tsuba has been attribured to the Kokinko tradition, a time-honored metalwork. The gold rim adds a decorative touch. It has passed Hozon shinsa in 2007. |
