Goats were brought to Japan as livestock from China and Korea. They are prolific animals that give birth frequently, making them a symbol of vitality and fertility. This is a rare Choshu tsuba with a goat design. Mitsunao[光直] was active in Hagi, Choshu, late Edo period. It has passed Hozon shinsa in August 2024. |
