Someya Tomonobu was a master craftsman who studied painting under Tani Buncho around the Bunka period of the late Edo period and gained a reputation for his intricately detailed landscape carvings using the sukidashi and usuniku-bori techniques. He was the son of Someya Masanobu, who left Ise for Edo to establish his own family. This work is a typical feature of tsuba with a mountain scenery that Someya Tomonobu was good at. It has passed the Hozon Shinsa in 2024 |
