The theme of this Tsuba is Kingfisher. A Kingfisher lives around a clear stream and catch small fish with its long beak and doesn't miss capturing its game. It has a meaning of catching your target and not losing. It became a popular theme. The craftsman, Masamitsu, was a representative of the Aizu craftsmen during the late Edo Period. He studied his craftsmanship from Ishiguro Masatsune and his work resembled his teacher's. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu in 2024. |
