| This contemporary swordsmith, Yamaguchi Kiyofusa, is one of the Mukansa certified swordsmiths. He was born in 1932 in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. In 1964, he became a disciple of Sumitani Masamine, a living national treasure. From the 1970s he started to submit his work to contests; "Shinsaku Meitoten." He received high-ranking awards many times and became a Mukansa in 1986. He is now 92 years old but still remains enthusiastic for forging. It is a stunning beautiful Kogatana. |
