| A sword attributed to Yasuyoshi of Chōshū, bearing a (gaku-mei) inscription of “Yasuyoshi.”Yasuyoshi is said to have been the son of Ōsa (Sa) and to have succeeded as the second generation. He later moved from Chikuzen to Chōshū. In addition to blades signed “Sa Yasuyoshi,” there are also examples bearing the inscription “Chōshū-jū Yasuyoshi,” many of which are dated to the Shōhei era (1347–1370).This blade shows the characteristic Nanbokuchō-period sugata with a large ō-kissaki. The boshi rises sharply to a pointed turn-back, displaying a feature typical of this smith. The sword passed NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon shinsa in 1983. |
