Nagamine [永峯] was a Kyoto metalworker in the mid-Edo period. He engraved the mei/inscription "Nagamine" and "Kaorakuju Nagamine (Kao) [花洛住永峯(花押)]." He excelled in the techniques of takabori and inlaid gold-colored depicting of Japanese and Chinese figures, and produced many fuchi-kashira. This fuchi-kashira is one of the Nagamine's masterpieces. It depicts the Genpei War, depicting mounted warriors with pine trees and waves. The composition is meticulous and magnificent, even in a small space. It passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2025. |
