Other Info
The Rokkasen are six poets mentioned by Ki no Tsurayuki in the kana preface of the Kokin Wakashū, compiled in the Heian period. The six poets are introduced as "people whose names are well known in recent times" - Sojo Henjo [僧正遍照], Ariwara no Narihira [在原業平], Bun'ya Yasuhide [文屋康秀], Kisen Hoshi [喜撰法師], Ono no Komachi [小野小町], and Otomo no Kuronushi [大友黒主]. The fuchi-gashira of this work has four people (from left: Kisen Hoshi, Bun'ya Yasuhide, Otomo no Kuronushi, Sojo Henjo) on the fuchi and two people (Ono no Komachi and Ariwara no Narihira) on the kashira. The Rokkasen are dressed in the gorgeous clothing of the Heian period. It is mumei, but attributed to the Kyo-kinko school and passed the Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2025.
