This craftsman, Shokatei Motohiro, was active in Kyoto during the Late Edo Period. He studied his craftsmanship from Otsuki Mitsuyoshi and later from Otsuki Mitsuoki. The features of his work showed the Otsuki Tradition and some of the Goto Tradition. The theme of this Fuchikashira is the Tale of Genji showing the headwear of the nobles and the ceremonial holding fan and pampas grass under the moon. It was a scene in the Genji tale of the moon viewing party. |
