| This work is a futatokoromono set consisting of a kozuka and menuki depicting weaving shuttles (hi), attributed to the Kyo-kinko school.A shuttle is a tool used in weaving to pass the weft thread between the warp threads. In this set, the shuttles are arranged in an elegant and playful composition together with flowing threads, expressing the refined and sophisticated taste characteristic of the Kyo-kinko school.The kozuka is made of shakudo nanako ground with takabori carving and iroe decoration, with a gold backing plate. The menuki are made of shakudo with katachibori carving and iroe decoration. Both pieces are unsigned.The storage box bears a hakogaki by Kanzan-sensei reading:“Hi FutatokoromonoKozuka: Shakudo nanako ground, takabori, iroe, gold backing plate, unsignedMenuki: Shakudo, katachibori, iroe, unsignedSpring, Showa Tsuchinoe-Saru year (1968)Written by Kanzan [seal]”This set passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2025. |
