A Tabane-noshi was used for attaching to a gift to show it is for an auspicious occasion. The artisan, Tsuji Masatoshi[辻政利], was a disciple of Tsuji Masachika[辻政近 ] who was the second generation of the Tsuji school. As the Tsuji school was a collateral and sub-worker of the Goto school, most of the works were unsigned and signed works were rare. Masachika first lived in Kyoto, but in 1662 he was employed by the Mito Tokugawa cran and moved to Edo. This Futatokoro, kozuka and kogai is an elegant Goto-style depicted bundled noshi. It has passed the Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu shinsa in 2023. |
